A Green New Deal for the many - University of Warwick

Join us for this talk & discussion in the Labour Energy forum's event series on a Green New Deal.

With the campaign for a Green New Deal in the United States gaining mass support & political momentum, what are the prospects for such a campaign in the UK, in the Labour party & in winning a social majority? Is the framework of the Green New Deal adequate to address the deep ecological crises we face? How can it deliver social justice for working class & marginalised people both in Britain and in the Global South?

A spokesperson from the Shadow Business Energy & Industrial Strategy team will be outlining Labour's approach and to speak on & discuss these questions we will be joined by:

Dr Leon Sealey-Huggins from the Global Sustainable Development department at Warwick.
Chris Saltmarsh from People & Planet, a campaigning organisation focussed on fossil fuel divestment & climate justice.
Clare Hymer from Labour for Green New Deal & Novara Media journalist.
Zamzam Ibrahim NUS Vice President Society & Citizenship.
Others tbc.

The room can be found on the ground floor of the social sciences department - https://warwick.ac.uk/about/visiting/maps/interactive/
