A Green New Deal for South West London

  • Tunnel 267 267 The Broadway London, England, SW19 1SD United Kingdom (map)

This event is open to EVERYONE.

The Green New Deal is a radical vision for transforming our economy rooted in the recognition that climate change is fundamentally a class issue, and a product of our broken economic system. The Green New Deal calls for 9 concrete, radical changes to our current economic, social and political model. It is a plan that recognises that economic, social and climate justice are indissoluble. At its recent conference, the Labour Party agreed to make a Green New Deal party policy with a target to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2030.

So what next?

In South West London, we want to work with Labour Party activists, trade unions, school strikers, XR activists, other community groups and local voters to start developing a plan for what a Green New Deal will look like in our area.

This meeting will include:
- A very brief introduction to the Green New Deal
- What are our priorities? (working in groups)
- What would we like to see in our areas? (working in groups)
- Tips for talking about the Green New Deal
- What do we do next?
