Dispatch from the campaign #10

From the grassroots to Parliament, support for a radical Green New Deal is growing! On Monday we had our Parliamentary launch event, hosted by Ed Miliband MP. Shadow climate ministers Danielle Rowley MP and Clive Lewis MP, Clare Hymer, our co-founder, and our spokesperson Lauren Townsend discussed our vision for a socialist transformation of the economy with dozens of Labour MPs.

Ahead of the launch, Lauren Townsend co-authored this piece for Labour List with Ed Miliband - We cannot tackle the climate emergency without Labour values.

We were delighted to get enthusiastic endorsements from several MPs, including frontbenchers, as well as from Laura Parker, Momentum’s national coordinator. Together we are building a just future that works for people and planet.

Commenting on the response we had from MPs, our co-founder Clare Hymer said:

Today’s launch demonstrated the huge appetite for a transformative Green New Deal across the Labour movement, not just among the half a million members who make up our party’s grassroots, but also among MPs.

We hope to see MPs continuing to work together alongside their local parties to make a radical Green New Deal programme a reality at party conference in September.

With less than two months to go, the conference countdown is on! CLPs can submit their motion until 12 September. If you want to pass it, let us know
